Professional activity and scope of competence
Paola Garzone is a qualified Accompagnatrice di Media Montagna (AMM) and is registered in the special list of Accompagnatori di Media Montagna maintained by the Collegio Regionale delle Guide Alpine della Lombardia, pursuant to Law no. 6 of 2 January 1989, Articles 21 and 22, Lombardy Regional Law no. 26 of 1 October 2014, and Lombardy Regional Regulation no. 5 of 29 September 2017.
The activity is carried out within the professional scope of the Accompagnatore di Media Montagna: accompanying people on excursions in mountain and natural environments, teaching hiking techniques, and illustrating the characteristics of the mountain environment traversed, in compliance with the applicable national and regional legislation.
In particular, the activity does not include accompanying people on glaciers or on terrain that requires, for progression, the use of rope, ice axe and crampons, and is carried out in compliance with the spatial and geographical limits identified by the applicable regional acts.
For activities carried out in Lombardy, the planning of itineraries takes into account the regional rules concerning the areas reserved to the profession of Accompagnatore di Media Montagna, including itineraries classified as EE and itineraries classified as E above 700 metres above sea level, according to the applicable classification and regional acts in force.
During excursions, any references to landscape, nature, local history, Alpine culture, traditional human activities, local products and food traditions of the territory are provided as environmental, cultural and human interpretation of the mountain area being traversed, and are intended to support a better understanding of the environment encountered along the route.
The activities offered by Alps Trails & Culture do not constitute independent guided tourist visits to museums, archaeological areas, monumental complexes, religious buildings or other cultural institutions or heritage sites, nor do they constitute the exercise of the tourist guide profession under Law no. 190 of 13 December 2023.
